Autumn in Le Havre: in tune with the tempo
This autumn, Le Havre sets the tone for a quintet of events played on a seemingly heterogeneous ensemble of instruments which are nonetheless in keeping with the tempo, playing from the same score, that is to say: the dynamic tune of the city known as Porte Océane (the “Gateway to the Ocean”).
Let’s start with the Malraux Museum which invites the public to discover the magic of clouds, those marvellous clouds: stratus, cumulus and nimbus as depicted by painters such as the amazing Boudin but also by contemporary photographers, will be on display for several weeks... In the following few days, the “Docks Vauban” will open their doors to the public. This former “cathedral” of the port made of bricks, wood and glass enjoys a new lease of life thanks to the architect Bernard Reichen. The area of 66000m2 that used to welcome coffee, cocoa and tobacco is now making space for the restaurants, shops and leisure centre.
At City Hall’s theatre, the finalists of the European Piano Competition will touch the right chord and will play the right tempo to please the ears of the piano lovers.
The programme does not stop there, it just keeps rising in a crescendo with the Jacques Vabre Transatlantic race starting as soon as the 31st of October and gathering some of the best skippers for a race towards the coast of Costa Rica, a country that produces... coffee! Monohulls and multihulls will leave on the 8th of November.
You will barely have time to recover from your maritime emotions & dreams of faraway lands before the new “Exhibition Fair” starts at the Docks Café. This popular event gathers many motivated tradesmen & shop keepers.
An autumn in Le Havre full of events, make the most of it!
